From a printed cyclo to a working motorized model

How a simple idea to add CyberBrick to a cyclo became a month of modeling, printing, testing, and mechanical redesign.

The starting point

I originally wanted to put CyberBrick components into a cyclo and make it controllable and drivable. While looking into cyclo designs, an old motorized version caught my attention. That became the direction for the model.

Bringing the parts together

The build took almost a month from the first model to the finished version. It involved modeling, printing, testing, and trying several mechanical solutions. It was also my first time integrating CyberBrick into a printed model.

What the finished model can do

  • Rear-wheel drive powered by CyberBrick.
  • Functional two-wheel steering.
  • Working headlights and left/right turn signals.
  • A hazard-light mode.
  • A foldable canopy.

Designing for the next person who builds it

I tried to keep the model easy to print and assemble while leaving room for upgrades and modifications. Different colors, details, and mechanisms can make another builder’s version their own.

The project page has the full description and links to the hardware, gearbox, and remote-controller models. This note is adapted from that existing build story.
